Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for httpd.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 5 / 6 host has packages installed that are affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2012:0542 advisory.

- httpd: mod_proxy_ajp remote temporary DoS (CVE-2011-3348)

- httpd: reverse web proxy vulnerability (CVE-2011-3368)

- httpd: ap_pregsub Integer overflow to buffer overflow (CVE-2011-3607)

- httpd: NULL pointer dereference crash in mod_log_config (CVE-2012-0021)

- httpd: possible crash on shutdown due to flaw in scoreboard handling (CVE-2012-0031)

- httpd: cookie exposure due to error responses (CVE-2012-0053)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL httpd package based on the guidance in RHSA-2012:0542.
