Synopsis

The remote Slackware Linux host is missing a security update to hunspell.

Description

The version of hunspell installed on the remote host is prior to 1.7.1. It is, therefore, affected by a vulnerability as referenced in the SSA:2022-235-01 advisory.

 - Hunspell 1.7.0 has an invalid read operation in SuggestMgr::leftcommonsubstring in suggestmgr.cxx.
 (CVE-2019-16707)

Note that Nessus has not tested for this issue but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Upgrade the affected hunspell package.
