Synopsis

The remote Red Hat host is missing one or more security updates for thunderbird.

Description

The remote Redhat Enterprise Linux 8 host has a package installed that is affected by multiple vulnerabilities as referenced in the RHSA-2021:2261 advisory.

- Mozilla: Thunderbird stored OpenPGP secret keys without master password protection (CVE-2021-29956)

- Mozilla: Partial protection of inline OpenPGP message not indicated (CVE-2021-29957)

- Mozilla: Memory safety bugs fixed in Firefox 89 and Firefox ESR 78.11 (CVE-2021-29967)

Note that Nessus has not tested for these issues but has instead relied only on the application's self-reported version number.

Solution

Update the RHEL thunderbird package based on the guidance in RHSA-2021:2261.
